Central Chilling Station No. 7
University of Texas System, Austin, Texas
GarzaEMC provided civil engineering services for the University of Texas at Austin Central Chilling Station No. 7 project. This project included the addition of buildings, facilities, and equipment to produce chilled water and hot water in central facilities to be distributed to the new Medical School District. The scope included a new 20,000 GSF building, 15,000-ton central chilling station and a 36,000-ton/hr thermal energy storage (TES) system and a new hot water generation facility. The design of the new UEM facilities was carefully coordinated to interface exactly with the other Medical School District project teams providing the piping and other utility distribution infrastructure.
The site civil engineering design of the project included site planning, grading, drainage, and utility improvements as well as design and permitting through the City of Austin for new water and reclaimed water taps and a new driveway on Red River St.
