T.A. Brown Elementary School
Austin ISD, Austin, Texas
As part of the 2017 Bond Program, the T.A. Brown Elementary School of the Austin Independent School District received a new 69,000 GSF state-of-the-art learning facility totaling $30,797,000. The new facility increased student capacity to 522 and included flexible spaces that allow collaborative, interdisciplinary, learner-centered and project-based learning environments. The facility building systems are sustainable and energy efficient, and include parking facilities, multiple indoor/outdoor environment areas, rain gardens and butterfly gardens, as well as raised planting beds. Construction of the facility incorporated plans to protect and preserve all existing on-site trees, and mitigate, in the most economical and advantageous method, the existing trees in poor health that are removed due to construction.
GarzaEMC provided full design, site plan and civil engineering services, as well as permitting through the City of Austin and preparing a SWPPP consistent with TCEQ and City requirements.
