KIPP South Austin Campus
KIPP Public Schools, Austin, Texas
The KIPP Austin project embarked on the design and renovation of an existing building to address the need for a location to grow new schools. The school accommodates approximately 1,500 students at elementary, middle and high school levels. The building was designed to be both cost and space efficient and construction was phased over several years to accommodate school schedules. Phase I consisted of approximately 30,000 GSF of middle school space that included classrooms, restrooms, administration areas, and one (1) basketball court. The basketball court area is also used as a serving area for school lunches. Phase II consisted of an approximately 70,000 GSF of elementary school which included classrooms, restrooms, administration areas, a cafeteria, kitchen, library, and a second basketball court adjacent to the Phase I court. Phase III consisted of an approximately 70,000 GSF high school space including classrooms, restrooms, administration areas, a library, and a teacher’s workroom. Phase III also required the expansion of an existing mezzanine level.
