Civil Engineer Associate (EIT) - Land Development // All Locations

GarzaEMC is a collaborative Team where each of our offices work together. The primary purpose of the Engineer Associate is to assist the project engineer and project managers in developing and processing design projects by performing due diligence, engineering calculations and design, and technical writing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performing due diligence and research tasks
  • Assisting in preparation and monitoring of project schedules
  • Performing design tasks under the supervision of Project Engineer
  • Assisting with design and drawing development in AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Assisting with the preparation of engineering plans and reports
  • Coordinating with regulatory review agencies
  • Assisting with monitoring of work for compliance to applicable codes and design criteria
  • Providing technical assistance during the construction phases
  • Ensuring internal approval of assigned tasks when completed
  • Effectively communicating with other team members

 

Required Licensing, Education & Experience:

  • FE (E.I.T.) Certification Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0+ years of experience
  • Working towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and PondPack.

A Professional Engineer should act as an “Assistant Project Manager”, well-versed in project design, financials, and schedules. They are the point of contact for clients if the Project Manager is unavailable and must be able to coordinate with other team members at all levels, both internal and external to the company. The primary role of the Professional Engineer is ensuring the completion of the engineering design and management of any permitting requirements.

 

Hiring office locations: North Austin, South Austin, San Antonio

Project Manager - Land Development // All Locations

The Project Manager is the primary person on each project responsible for management, preparation and coordination of all technical and financial activities on assigned projects. Effective communication is a must for this position. He or she is the primary representative for Client and jurisdictional agency personnel, as well as for coordination of internal activities of the project. This position manages multiple projects and staff on client delivery and technical aspects of a project from start to finish, from proposal and due diligence to project completion and acceptance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Management of planning, scheduling, coordinating, and completion of project tasks
  • Management of project engineering design elements
  • Overseeing project permitting efforts
  • Effectively communicating with project design, ownership, and construction teams
  • Managing and monitoring project progress, schedules and budgets
  • Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals and management of project invoicing

Senior CAD Operator // Houston & North Austin, TX

The Senior Technical Designer produces construction drawings on assigned projects from sketches, plans, specifications, and written and verbal instructions using computer‐aided drafting programs. They provide preliminary drawings, sketches, and notes to CAD Operators, as well as finish redlines and plans for submittal.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Produces construction drawings on a large number of concurrent projects
  • Provides preliminary drawings, sketches and notes to CAD Operators
  • Finishes redlines and plans for submittal
  • Works within defined project scopes and budgets
  • Manages time effectively to meet all deadlines and budgets; provides estimates of time required to complete tasks
  • Mentors less experienced CAD Operators and CAD Designers
  • Recommends best practices, process improvements
  • Prioritizes projects

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Complete understanding of CAD Standards
  • Proficient with enhanced 3D Software and can set up basic elements
  • Basic understanding of complex projects
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

 

Required Licensing, Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree or Certificate in Drafting/Design from an accredited college or technical school, or equivalent accreditation or experience
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in fundamental drawing elements, encompassing surfaces, corridors, and utility alignments
  • Experience in linear projects, such as roads, water, and sewer projects
  • Familiarity with relevant software applications such as AutoCAD Civil3D, GIS, AutoTurn, and Adobe Acrobat
