Austin by Ellsworth Kelly

University of Texas // Austin, Texas

Austin by Ellsworth Kelly is a freestanding repository conceived by world renowned artist, Ellsworth Kelly. The museum is one of the foremost university art museums in the country and has the largest collection of art in Central Texas. This structure has become a vessel that contains fifteen artworks by Mr. Kelly, and is a satellite of the museum, relying on many support functions such as restrooms and security. The project location provides a challenge since the area north of the Blanton is a major utility corridor containing water, wastewater, storm, electric, and communication lines for the University.

GarzaEMC provided civil engineering services for this project including site civil layout, grading and drainage, utility design, coordination, and relocation, City of Austin review, approval, and permitting, and reconfiguration of existing City of Austin utility easements.
